The Ferrari 812 Superfast is a car the brand's not shy about comparing to the 365 GTB4 "Daytona". And you can see shades of that epic late-Sixties Fezza in the new model’s muscular, fastback shape - its two-volume silhouette is remorselessly aerodynamic, the result being the sort of driving experience that would have blown minds at the Monte Carlo roulette wheel back in the day.
One example: at approximately 125mph, the 812 Superfast generates a vertical load of 210kg over its rear wheels, while slipping through the air with twice the efficiency of the F12berlinetta, the car it’s replacing.
The Superfast name has prompted snarky comments from some quarters but Ferrari fans will know it references the 1964 500 Superfast, the car that arguably first set the template for aristocratic Ferrari V12 high performance.
